Riechers Spence & Associates prepared project permitting and construction documents for an expansion of the existing Marriott Hotel on Solano Avenue.
This project posed several challenges. There was an existing Storm Drain line running through the building, which we had to reroute. Halfway through the project, there was an earthquake. We provided support to the contractor in designing earthquake retrofitting.
Another interesting tidbit was that we had to phase the construction around the Oakland Raiders pre-season schedule, as they use the facility for training.
